In its study programs, the faculty relies on the credit hour system (CHS), which is a measure that reflects the number of hours of communication between lecturers and students during the semester. The study plan for the academic year consists of two basic semesters in addition to a summer semester, with a total of eight basic semesters for the four academic years, excluding summer semesters. English is the official language of instruction adopted in all faculty programs, as the faculty of engineering is committed to ensuring that students master it, and all scientific content, assignments, and exams are in English. To obtain a bachelor's degree in engineering, the student must successfully complete the number of credit hours required in the program he is studying, according to the criteria specified for each program, in addition to completing field training during the study period, provided that the cumulative average upon graduation is not less than 2.0.
The faculty of Engineering at City University of Cairo accepts students who hold a high school diploma in Engineering division, or equivalent accredited certificates, in accordance with the minimum total grades determined by the Ministry of Higher Education, and in accordance with the conditions and standards specific to each department or study program within the college.
The faculty also accepts Al-Azhar high school graduates, American and British high school certificates, the International Baccalaureate certificate, STEM school graduates, and all other equivalent certificates, according to the minimum approved annually by the University Council.
The faculty also welcomes international students to study there, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force at the City University of Cairo and as determined by the Supreme Council of Universities.
