CUC President Explores New Avenues of Collaboration with Chinese Institutions
n Sunday morning, May 4, Professor Mohamed Ibrahim Ali, President of City University of Cairo, welcomed a delegation from the Union of Universities of Shandong Province, China. The meeting, held on the university campus, was also attended by the university’s vice presidents, deans, Dr. Tarek Marwan (Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees), and the Secretary-General.
The visit served as an opportunity to explore potential areas of academic and research collaboration, with discussions covering fields such as physical therapy, renewable energy, engineering, media, and the arts.
The Chinese delegation expressed a strong interest in building ties with CUC, noting its modern academic programs and the expertise of its faculty across a wide range of disciplines. They highlighted particular interest in joint efforts related to renewable energy, Chinese language instruction, vocational training, and broader academic exchange.
Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Ali emphasized the university’s intention to turn these conversations into concrete steps, proposing a short-term action plan—ranging from one to three months—to get cooperation underway. Initial efforts will focus on sending engineering students for hands-on training in Chinese factories, launching joint research projects, establishing student exchange opportunities, and encouraging knowledge-sharing among faculty.
At the end of the meeting, Prof.Mohamed Ibrahim Ali presented a commemorative shield to the head of the visiting delegation, as a gesture of appreciation and a symbol of the growing partnership between the two sides.
